so, im in the middle of re-designing my site, and here is what i have so far,

I think i need to make the left part a bit more interesting

any idea on what i can add to it?

There's a good design eye at work here, but I noticed a few things that could tighten it up a bit. The navigation seems... lonely. Maybe these could be buttons instead of a nav bar? It just seems to carry too much visual weight on the page- so much so that it draws your attention to how few links there are.

For me the homepage sets an expectation that there will not be much to do on the site (as the mock up is right now) because there isn't enough content or breakout areas. If you're not sure what to write to intro your stuff, just jump right into a large layout of your porfolio- that's probably the part that's going to cinch the deal anyway. Why not go ahead and give them what they want.

Some suggested areas to include might be: services, your process, pricing.

Also a note on the copy, "years of experiece" sounds like fluff because it's not exact. I think a general user might read this as "inexperienced" because there isn't a specific number attached to it.

I like the colors and the light effect/spotlight at the top. Good stuff there.

I know my comment was kind of short, but with regards to the "left hand side of the template" which is what you were wondering what to do with....larger text would definitely fill that area out and can look very tastefully done as well.

With regards to the nav bar, I think infinity spiral had it right on with getting rid of the bar and just leaving 3 buttons up there instead. Leave the look of a depressed button (like you have now) on the selected page and you might be able to increase the text size of the buttons a bit as well.

thanks for the suggestions, as far as the text goes, i wasnt sure what to write, its sorta filler text.

I had an idea yesterday though, what would you guys think about a small bio about me on the left, i have seen it done nicely before, like maybe a vector picture of myself, then a few details?

btw, i started coding it, what do you guys think so far? Keep in mind the coding is still messy, havent cleaned it up yet.
