Hi there,

I really need your help cause my PDNS got crazy. It happend
yesterday - I've just changed my root password for mysql (didn't touch
power_admin passwords) and after that i've restarted my server (debian lenny).
After reboot problems started to be visible. When Im entering in browser "mydomain.com" it cant find my site (before reboot everything was fine). I have to write "www.mydomain.com" to enter my site and even this sometimes just doesnt work.
Ive started to search for an answer on web but didnt find any.
What Ive found is in my syslog file:

Nov 15 23:31:59 server pdns[4738]: gmysql Connection failed: Unable to connect to database: Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (111)
Nov 15 23:31:59 server pdns[4738]: Caught an exception instantiating a backend, cleaning up

checkdns.

There are hundreds of errors like this one above.
Checkdns.com says that my primary DNS is offline and second one points to another IP different than primary-one (didn't change nothing) and is not authoritative for my domain. Should alternative DNS IP address be the same or not?

Thank you for you help,
David P.

Should alternative DNS IP address be the same or not?

That all depends on the data center setup and/or if your primary and secondary name servers are actually located in the same data center or ar the same IP.

ns1.domain.com might be at one IP address and ns2.domain.com at another. Check with your hosting service.
