Hi everyone,

As of today I am developing a website and I only have a basic web terminology/MIS background. A friend needs a site and I said I would take a stab at it. At this point it is essentially a brochure. No e-commerce, blogs, forums, quotes, etc......maybe a "contact us" page with a form.

Here is the basic set-up thus far;

My first page is to be an "animated" globe (he is a freight forwarder) that would look like this; http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-vid...ld-network.php that will include some basic company information and page links. From there you click to "enter" the site. The subsequent pages will be similar to these http://www.genesis-forwarding.com/americas.aspx?loc=ame and/or http://www.worldclassshipping.com/ By and large the site will be static with text and a few images and a goal of less being more.

My initial questions are;

1) Based on my specs, should I go template driven (Yahoo! SiteBuilder or Intuit?) or create my own/DIY?
2) If template, any recommendations between Yahoo or Intuit or..?
3) If DIY, Dreamweaver?
4) If I purchase the above video from istockphoto is there a standard format I should use? wmv. mov. mp4?

I really appreciate all input. Let me know if I need to provide more info and thanks again!

Chris

Thx Yama - looks interesting. Can I infer that you think a template is the way to go? Are there typically scalability issues with those? Not that that is a huge concern but I would love to add a quoting tool and some CRM functionality down the road.

Here is the one I threw together today- mhtrans.com but it is a placemark until I build the final masterpiece.

Thx again - Chris
