Hi there,

We recently overhauled our new local classifieds site, which can be found at:
http://buymystuff.com/

It is a unique buy and sell classifieds site that uses georeferencing to show local results, and sort items by distance.

We'd really like to know what people think of the user experience -- especially selecting one's location, and the accuracy in different parts of the world.

Looking forward to hearing your feedback!

Best regards,
Jason.

The Geo Location is WAY OFF!!!

I live in Zihuatanejo, a town on the Guerrero Coast and the locater put the Postal Code for Xochihuehuetlán, Guerrero (a very small community in the mountains on the other side of the state almost to Puebla) about 400km away to the east. Putting the correct postal code put me further away! The "This is approximately where Google thinks 40880, mx is" when I put in the correct Postal Code didn't even get the right state - it put me in Guadalupe de Corrientes, Zacatecas some 700km to the north.
So the data bases are incomplete or just plain wrong.
At least it got the right state and right country initially!

Indeed -- Thanks for pointing this out. Geolocation is quite tough, and we're gathering feedback on how to make it better.

Are you able to have it find the correct location if you sign up for an account and enter your full address, instead of just the postal code?
