Setting Up Recurring Billing

I need to set up recurring billing for a website and I'm struggling to figure out what to use. I've used PayPal for a variety of applications in the past but never for recurring billing and I've been told by a handful of people that for a serious website you don't use PayPal. I looked at www.authorize.net and www.paysimple.com as well.

Anyone have any suggestions or experience with this?
