Which qualification? Career help!?

Hi to all, I am currently changing career and in the process of re-learning all of my web development skills to make the switch and become a web developer, but I would like to take a course to show that I have the skills in this area.

I know of all the different languages, but is there any qualification that is more highly regarded than others in the industry? I know that experience is crucial, thats why I'm slowly building up a portfolio but would also like a formal qualification to show my commitment to learning the role.

Any help would be life changing(hopefully!)

I would concentrate upon database creation/integration or multimedia (depending on if you're a programmer or designer by nature).

Thanks for the help, I am trying to find courses that incorporate things such as MY SQL and database work as I researched the field and the general opinion is that it will be a sought after area in the near future.
My thinking is the more I know, the more attractive I would be to prospective employers.
