Hi all...new member here:

I have a dilemma, and I was hoping that maybe someone here might have an idea. In MS Flight Simulator 2004, I'm trying design an XML gauge that will work like a CD-player for music files that are outside the Flight Simulator shell. There's one gauge in existence that I'm aware of (Radiocd4) which does this, but it isn't XML: I'm told it was written in C++, it's in .GAU format which cannot be decompiled. I'm fairly handy with designing XML gauges (instruments, etc) for Flight Sim, but missing the critical code to do something outside the F/S shell.

If anyone can offer some help or suggestions with this, I'd greatly appreciate it. Please let me know if you need more info or a better explanation.

Thanks,
Garry

Hi, I am an avid pilot, simulist, and new website owner with FS products. I have a gauge that plays MP3s and looks like a digital car stereo. I love it and have put it in many of my GA aircraft. I will have to check my gauge library for type. I am very interested in talking with you as I am a pretty advanced panel designer but novice xml builder. I have however made about 100 simple gauges..(on/off switches, autopilots, warning lights, idents, etc..) I really want to learn how to make accurate fuel and flaps gauges as I feel that is my most common issue when panel building. Please send me an email and check out my website at simsamurai-dot-net. I also have alot of videos on youtube so you can see the type of panels I build. I use FS9 but really want to look at only using xml gauges in FS9 so as to rid my FS9 install of all old gauges and hence will eventually move all the aircraft over to FSX. Please contact me as I would love to be able to converse with another gauge/panel designer. -Jeff
