FIREWALL help

?help me.. im stuck in the dorm and they have this really fast internet connection. the problem is, i cant seem to connect to games and stuff and i think its because i heard theyve installed this new firewall that prohibits mutiplayer games and P2P stuff.. thats so totally unfair!

could someone here help me at least?
pls?
even just a short explaination.
how do they do that?

If its on the hub talk to the network admin and ask to be put on a dmz. If its system based msconfig it so it won't run on startup.
