i am so frequently directed to the w3c.org page from here that I figured it was about time I studied it more closely.

There is one thing there that bothers me a little, so I turn to this venerable community for explanation...

The way I read it, html4 requires declaration of the document type. The aim is to have developers move their sites over to an html strict format BUT...

When I read the spec for that, it appears that frames (and that would include iframes, which are enormously useful) are not supported. Is this correct, or have I misinterpreted?

It also appears that the JavaScript function "innerHTML" will not longer be supported. Again, have I misinterpreted?

can't say which direction W3C folks will go for frames(and iframes),however,I have a firm belief *judging from previous W3C track record), innerHTML may endup in DOM in future...
