Hi,

I recently upgraded to Photoshop CS4 on my Mac and now my Illustrator CS2 won't start up anymore.

I tried to contact Adobe last night but they said that the only thing I could do was try to re-install again. That didn't work and they said that they wouldn't be supporting CS2 anymore anyway.

They gave me basically no choice but to upgrade to Illustrator CS4. I told them $199 was alot of money so they gave me a 10% off code..Woohoo, a whole $20.

Has anyone had this problem as well?

Thanks!!

What exactly is it doing when it 'won't start up'? Does it try to start, then crash? Any error messages? Which version of OS X are you using?

Mac OS 10.4.11

It freezes when it is initializing....nothing happens and it will say "Application not Responding"

1) Try doing the typical Mac troubleshooting stuff: repair disk permissions (Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility); Drag your preference files to the desktop and let it rebuild them (user/library/preferences/com.adobe.illustrator.plist)
2) Delete the font cache: (user/library/caches/fonts/AdobeFnt11.lst)
3) Try logging in as a different user and seeing if the program will start there.
4) Report back with results :)

Ok, something went horribly wrong last night. There were errors that I had to correct with Disk Aid but when I went to restart my system all I saw was a moving globe. Apple support was already closed so I decided to reinstall OS X. Big mistake...

I accidentally chose the option that erases everything and lost most of my software, everything that had been sitting on my desktop and all of my Itunes music....But on the bright side, my Illustrator CS2 is working again. I am back to Photoshop CS2 because I am too scared to reinstall the CS4 upgrade.
