creating animations

First time doing animations:D. I am trying to create an animation, using images I created in Ilustrator 10 (each image / have one layer). These images are in sequence to make up an animation. I tried opening these images in Flash 5, wouldn't happen. So I went to Photoshop/Image Ready 3.0. (These programs are on Mac), after I opened the first image on the Animation palette and upon trying to open the next image that continues the animation the first frame(s) change to the same as the last. I am having a time trying to figure this out. I need some guidence. Please, someone help me!:o

in flah mx (not sure if its the same in 5) you can import the images to the library
you could also copy and paste them onto the frame
