You can get a whole crapload more than that with PHP or Perl...

Sure can if you know the language. Most cable modem providers allow you some web space, but they don't support PHP, ASP, CGI or others.
In these cases, there is nothing easier than inserting a graphic. If you know of an easier way to post visitor information in a small block on the left or right side of a web site with these limitations, please post it.

Didn't know your server didn't support anything. Just thought that if it did, you could customize what is displayed.
