Question...
I have this Javascript with which one can secure a page and make loginbox. Is a thing like this also usable for a whole map or do you need something totally different for that?

Is there any way to make a secure directory on a webserver? I have a domain from a serviceprovider and I would like to add a secure directory to that server. I'd also like to make it so that I can add a person and give him/her a specific username and password. No person from outside should be allowed in that dir. Can someone help me with this problem?

I know that the server had a function with which you can make a secure dir, but the username and password for that are the same as the ones I have to use for accessing the server for uploads and stuff. You might understand that that's not an option for me. Can you explain the other option so I can see if I can use that one? For i don't have a clue about how it works...

Isn't there a program for such things? I've been using an applet from Coffeecup so far, but with that, it isn't possible to protect a whole dir, but just a single file... Can anyone send some ideas of how to make such a thing? My server can work with most common scripts and stuff...

If you're using Apache (and possibly some other web servers?), you can create files called .htaccess and .htpasswd (Unix hidden files) which specify access restrictions.
I suggest you search for ".htaccess" and look for a tutorial.
