Flash/no flash? Please Help?

I want to make a piano picture (which I have already) to play a different note for each key that is clicked on and once a special song is played a new part of the site opens up. How do i do that? Is there any other way of doing that besides flash? If not, how much is Flash?

DHTML / CSS can do it. But if you want the song to be more of a secret that the user has to guess at you would have to use a server side language with it. So yea your best bet would be flash, it would lag less and probably be better supported. You could also use an applet but I am not a huge fan of applets.

Personally, I'd download a trial version of Flash MX 2004 from Macromedia. I'd then build my application using the trial version.

Check out www.actionscript.org for tutorials. It's a terrific forum as well.
