Hi,

on one of our IIS Servers somebody played and now on the site if you want to download (Save As from link to file) files if the file is doc (word) type a window apear to input username and network password. If I click cancel than it goes forward. So what the heck happend? Can you restrict access only on types of files?

I have searched in IIS and Windows Accounts... help but couldn't figure it out.

Regards,
Adrian

Check the permissions on the files or folders which contain your word documents. Ensure whatever account you are using to access the files has adequate permissions.

Sounds like somebody dinked with authentication methods on the web using ISM and turned off "Anonymous Access" while the ACLs of the files still actually allow anyone access to the files.

Have the guy enable "Anonymous Access" and that should get rid of the login prompt.
