Hello,

My partner and I just launched a new site as a side project, http://www.beernewb.com.

We would be very interested to know about what others thought of the design, and if they experience any odd quarks in their particular browser.

We have a few specific questions as well:

Do you find you get stuck at the end of an article? Or do you feel comfortable navigating to different content?
Would you be turned off from ads on the sidebar, or perhaps at the end of each article - where would be the most effective, yet unobtrusive place for ads?
What other types of content would you like to see on the sidebar?

In or initial testing, we are noticing that people only read one article and don't continue, so we are looking to improve the flow, any suggestions are welcomed.

Nice site!

To answer your questions, I would definitely put the links you have on top in your footer as well in small text (probably above your copyright info).

I think that related ads on your sidebar would be appropriate, and non-intrusive. The sidebar seems like a place you want to glance at, but not get distracted about either, which to me is good. However, the social media buttons are really huge. Is promoting your social pages a big part of your goal?

Yes, social media is a very important element for the long term plans.

Still working on more complex navigation, thanks for the input.

As I am on a work's computer, we are running IE6, which granted is old but should not really have the following problem!

(See attached image)

Have no idea what happened, it does this after loading the page for around 3 seconds.

I have IE6 on my test machine, I do not get that error, but I know that the page is not designed to work in IE6. Our audience is not typically corporate and is younger, so its not a big focus. The long term plan is when we create a mobile version of the site, that we serve the simplified mobile page to IE <= 6 instead.
