One of my clients insists on YourPay: it is supported by tons of shopping carts. My current shopping cart exprience evolves mostly around Miva: it's very good but a bit over-complicated and overpriced for these particular needs.
I am aiming for a simple, free cart for this project, since it's going to be a simple solution: straight forwarded items for sale: (videos): no attributes required.
If anyone had good experience, pls, suggest.

We've been hosting Miva for over three years and to be honest there are a lot of folks out there changing a lot for it.

I did some poking around and I haven't been able to find a Free shopping cart that wasn't automatically tied to hosting or a merchant gateway.

Best bet is finding a cheaper Miva host! :D

I have no problem with hosting. I am having a problem of hiring a sonic jet to take it for a drive for a local grocery store :) a simple bike woud do :)

Well the probelm is that all shopping cart associated with an API were designed to be sold as software. So finding a free shopping cart to suit your client's needs and demands for YourPay usage is going to be next to impossible.

Most free shopping carts come with a gimmick (ie. hosting or gateway specific ) or very little support as far as payment gateways or APIs opting for simple email with self processing options. Some do not even offer a secure transactin method relying on CGI or PERL to cover their tracks which is a risk not only to the customer but the vendor as well.

Agreed that for a direct-point of sale type site Miva may be a bit cumbersome, but if you strip away the shiny exterior you can build a very usable point-click and process Shop, just using the processing backend.

Just a thought...

Some shopping carts like this: http://www.merchant-store.com
Are free, but like I said have to use their Merchant gateway.

EDIT:

You can remove StoreFront from the list, more cumbersome and advanced than Miva. I have had no direct experience with the others on that list. I did look over them from the Linkpoint site, but none of them were free so I didn't think they were an option. :)

Aha! just got off the phone with our server support guys, they offer the solution that is working with Linkpoint (comes with client's package), which, in terms, is working with Yourpay.
thanks for the pointers :)

oscommerce supports linkpoint which is what powers Yourpay and id put oscommerce up against 99% of the pay shopping carts and its free.

I know osCommerce is supposedly great, but I'm inclined toward what we've got in the server package - if I run into trouble, I'm gonna get free support for their cart (easystoremakerPro) But I'll keep my options open, thanks.
