Hi, you seem to be a website design expert, so would like to ask you to review my website at http://sohguanh.appspot.com Is the loading of Java Applet slow? I am no website designer but more of a programmer so any comments on how to make the page more "colorful" and "fanciful" is welcome :) Haze1434 04-28-2010, 04:14 AM I can't load that website correctly in my browser, it freezes too much. Also, the application itself does not load. It just shows a cross where it failed to load. The information on the page is OK, but choppy english and not laid out in a way that makes sense. I can't even figure out what those links called 'Reference 1', 'Reference 2' etc are even supposed to do. Rather than posting in the website review forum section, I would suggest you post in the Javascript forum instead, as there isn't anything here for us to review. All of your pages are just text, failed javascript applets and dodgy links and adverts. sohguanh 04-28-2010, 04:24 AM I can't load that website correctly in my browser, it freezes too much. All of your pages are just text, failed javascript applets and dodgy links and adverts. Thanks for your comments. Java is NOT JavaScript. The cross you see is most likely your browser did not install Java and unable to run Java applets, just like you did not turn on JavaScript in your browser. FYI, until IE7 which come with Java pre-installed in the browser, nowadays most browser require you to install the Java plug-in to run Java applets. Just like you need to install Adobe Flash plug-in to see Flash animation. The reason those plug-in are needed is because HTML by itself is very simple and offer very little interactivity. JavaScript is done to achieve that but user can turn JavaScript off in the browser and there goes your fanciful effect. I think like what a lot of developers said, we shall wait for HTML5 to see how it turns out. Haze1434 04-28-2010, 04:53 AM Apologies, I meant to say Java. I would suggest placing something on the page to tell the user if they have Java turned off/not installed, and perhaps some links or instuctions for them on how to install or turn it on. Other than that, as I canot judge the application at the moment (I am at work, and unable to mess with Java settings), perhaps give a little bit of CSS love to the page, make it look a little bit nicer and eye catching. webdeveloper.com
