html as we know it has not been around for that long. Not too long ago the internet did not even exist. I remember the days when to play online games you had a dial up modem and you would dial a friends phone number basically to connect. I also remember chatting through manual dialing.

You've got an interesting poll going there...

The longest anyone could honestly check would be about 11 or 12 years...

Just about everyone will be in 0-4, that 20+ person is obviously bsing because html has not even been around that long. When was html, first created? Looks like I should look on w3, http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/historical , ahhh yes, 1992, and it is now 2004 (almost), which means html has been around for about 12 years. 12 != 20.
The internet did not come around until the early 90s and when it first came around no one had access to it. Not until 1995 with windows 95 did you see lots of people with internet access. Not too many people had comps prior to this or even at this time.

Just wondering... im 14... and i suck. best i've made is this: http://somuchlove.2ya.com and it sucks... workin on it tho.. life to busy for me and i dont have time to work on mass pages all the time *cries* wish i did. but if i actually had time i'd probly learn to program instead of make webpages better:rolleyes:

Tee Hee! :D

Anyhoo, I'm 15. I pretty much suck too. But that site's pretty cool. Nice layout and color scheme. I have a bad habit of never actually finishing anything... I have trouble finding good hosting that supports PHP.

I'm hoping I'll get the Compiler I asked for for christmas, but if I don't, I'll just have to buy it myself. Christmas money will come in handy for that. I'm tryin' to learn me some C++! :D

***EDIT***
If you need some text just to fill space, go to www.code4ever.com/fake_latin.htm That's where I go whenever I need some space-filling text. :D

la de da...

www.aspfreeserver.com supports PHP, ASP, and ASP.net and has unlimited bandwidth and no popups or anything... then with www.2ya.com you can get a domain name for free (http://somuchlove.2ya.com) and there ya go. aspfreeserver also supports databases... but you gotta download and upload them into your DB directory in the Ftp section... or go to www.freesql.com and grab a free sql database..

HTML itself about 7 years ago was when I first hacked HTML code. Though I have only been coding on a regular basis for the last 4 years.

I think you should change your poll................. split up the 0-4 years category into a few ore bits, since a large proportion would probably fit into this............. I didn't even have a computer four years ago! And I first started HTML in July, so that'll be 5 months for me. Javascript 4 months, PHP since yesterday...............

Well, lots of people did have computers prior to te 90s, they just weren't PC's. I had a Commodore machine in 1979 and still have the 8032 that replaced it 2 or 3 years later (although it's gathering dust in the garage). I also had Commodore64 with a modem which had access to someting called Compunet. It was a sort of intranet with a UK teletext flavour.
At work in around 1993-5 we used e-mail and the internet on a Sun workstation. Those days were tame, no pop-ups, no virusses, no spam.

But it was not open internet, like you said it was intranet, which meant that html was not widely in use because without html hyper text markup lanaugage there would be no http, hyper text transfer protocal, which makes up the big part of the internet we call websites :D . We did not have a comp until win95 came out and even then we were not on the internet for a little while there, because my brother used to do dial up games and text based chat because there were not any isps around, or atleast we did not have one or know of any that could give us service locally, we would be dialing a long distance number, we eventually got AO hell, for a few years, then msn, finally cable.
