Hello. I am new to this forum, and I have just started playing with building my own web, so please forgive me if my question seems inordinately dumb.

I am building a web using Frontpage 2000 and I cannot get downloaded gif files to animate. I have pasted a waving flag gif file onto my home page and it doesn't wave. Am I missing a file in my computer ? - I have recently done some cleaning up of my files and prograsms and I may have uninstalled a program that I shouldn't have. - Any ideas?

Any help gratefully appreciated.

Dave

Are you viewing the file within Frontpage? If you have saved it, open the file from 'My Computer' so that it opens in the browser.

I am assuming that you have entered all the <img src> stuff okay, and that the flag is showing, but not waving.

Thanks for the suggestion. I opened the file as you suggested, but the flag still doesn't wave.

I checked the gifworks.com site with my older computer and noted that the gif files on that site are animated. When viewed with my main computer those images appear static. Both computers are using Windows XP. I think this points to the problem being one of missing software in my main computer. Is there some specific software that is required in order to play gif files?

Thanks, Dave

Prolly means you've got a place in the IE preferences where you need to tell it to go ahead an animate those GIFs.
