hi

I'm after a CMS or basic blog type solution that can be used by young kids. I wonder if there are any open source solutions (LAMP or Ruby on Rails) that can allow young kids to create & adapt their own website, basic text & images etc.?

Thanks for the suggestion, actually kids age 5-10yrs old.... Hence WP (great system) and other adult tools overkill and over-complex

Surely there must be some products to cater for the young ones??

thanks for your comments, the joomla project does not appear active. I'm currently looking at WP integrations with posterous and tumblr that offer great email/blog services. just trying to find how to make the post on their site password protected and open on kids domain.

perfect, simplicity for kids to start with email & then all the bells and whistles of WP (I can manage in background and for when they're ready...)

you can use Client Software instead of email, check out http://codex.wordpress.org/Weblog_Client
