Hi,

i would like to know if anyone an help me with my computer crashing everytime i use the DVDwriter, i have changed cables and changed the dvd but still the computer suddenly shuts down everytime i insert a dvd.

I suggest you look for a driver update. If the driver is out-of-date or corrupted, it could cause this problem.

I have already updated the drivers to my pc, but still i get the problem.

Sounds like there might be a short in the hardware perhaps (if you do have the correct and most up to date drivers applicable to your specific OS)...

If your computer doesn't already, right-click on "My computer", go to properties, if under vista or above click on "Advanced system settings" on the left, go to the advanced tab (may already be on it), click "startup and recovery", make sure under "writing debugging information" you have a full or a kernel memory dump selected selected, then back out of the windows by hitting ok, ok...etc.
Now, try to induce the computer to crash and upon restarting try to analyze the memory dump. Actually analyzing the dumps takes quite a bit more explaination, so i'll point you to those who have already done it:

I recommend doing a memory dump analysis because many things can indirectly cause a computer to crash, it is rarely a straight forward process.

do you see blue screen after inserting CD?. it is driver problem
