I am updating the website of the dojo where I train. I would like to allow the dojo cho (owner) to login to a webpage form on the web server to add news and update text on the appropriate HTML page. It should be simple enough that even your computer-illiterate mom could do it, if you know what I mean. :)

Basically, I'm clueless about how to approach this, what with the many scripting languages (Javascript, Perl, Java applet) and page formats (PHP, ASP, SHTML, etc.) to use in order to achieve this end.

Links and illumination welcomed greatly!

Hi!

I did things like that in PHP. The owners of some sites which I made don't have any idea about programming. So I just wrote some small stuff enabling them to add or edit content to their sites as simply as sending an email.

Basically it is nothing else like a guestbook. People enter something in a form, hit submit and their input will be available on the page...

Cheers - Pit

First, thank you Pittiman. I will need to see if the webhost for the dojo website has PHP support enabled (etc.). I love the idea that this is Apache-based and not M$-based. :)

starrwriter, what is the link to macromedia for exactly? I have recently purchased the latest version of Dreamweaver, but it has been some time since I used Dreamweaver (my personal website was constructed using Namo WebEditor). More info, please? (he asks kindly whilst wincing in regret of the malstrom to follow)

Instead of reinventing the wheel, you could set up some kind of existing content management program like a wiki or a blog. Greymatter (http://www.noahgrey.com/greysoft/) is a free one that I've used in the past.

Strange server set up. Pull the slash off the end.

And don't highjack threads; start a new one. Your question has nothing to do with the existing content.
