Scanning on a Wireless All-in-One?

I'm looking into buying an all-in-one wireless printer. Provided you've placed something in the printer to scan, can you go to your computer and start the scan wirelessly? Or does the wireless part only apply to printing?

I'm not an expert, but I'll give you my educated guess...

The computer has the ability to send and receive data from the printer, so it shouldn't have any problem requesting the printer to scan, or receiving the scanned data.
