Anybody know of any freeware or cheap graphics software for simple despeckling of a GIF made transparent. TIA

if you are using Photoshop 6 or later, have you tried the dust and scratches filter, under the noise modifier?

If that doesn't work, you can always apply a mask and hunt down those nasty specks one at a time, then resave for web...

edit>>you should convert the image to rgb first, though (Image>Mode>RBG Color).

I hate to sound antagonizing, but readville is looking for some free or cheap graphics software. Which means he doesn't currently have any, and he doesn't want to spend a lot of money; photoshop is not cheap.

perhaps he should download the trial version of Paint Shop Pro?

or...

Get a JOB and buy Pshop!!!

Thanks for the responses. I'm coming around to the idea that you need top-end software to do top-end work. I'll look into Photoshop.
