Recently the thumbnails & adverts on YouTube do not appear on any page.
After waiting several minutes a red cross appears as though there is no image. I have tried it in IE8, Firefox & Chrome all with the same results.

Attached is a screenshot.

Could anyone tell me what has gone wrong?
They appeared again for a couple of hours ago yesterday but then disappeared again.
If it is caused by a browser setting could someone please tell me how I reset it.
If I click on an empty square the videos play OK, it's just these thumbnails and also the adverts that have gone.

This is the only website I have had a problem with. All other sites I have browsed have been OK.

I have heard the same thing has being happening to some other people but for others it is fine.

Could it be a co-location problem, my computer or browsers

All help much appreciated

If all three are doing it, it could be that the content provider is the problem or the network you are on is filtering. Fact your getting the HTML rendering and not the images suggests that it is the content provider that is the problem.

Its not the first time I have come across problems with YT myself and in each case it was YT that was the problem. For all you know the servers delivering the content. Content and pages do not have to come from the same server / cluster.

I have found out that the images are supposed to be downloaded from the following URL:

http://i2.ytimg.com

The thing is that they are just not downloading but I don't know why.

The HTML is rendering fine, it's just that the images are not downloading.
Every other site I go to the images download with no problems.

And have you checked that its a server URL owned or suppliers to YT and you have tried emailing them about it? We can be discussing this all day and still be nowhere near the truth. For all you know the content could have been removed by request of the copyright holder.

Thanks.

By some miracle after being off for about 3 weeks they suddenly appeared again last night.

Thing is for how long?

Last time I looked, it was about £4.50 + VAT.

That happens when image server fails or have too much demand, so dont worry, or rarely but not least, it happens when your internet is slow, or something is messing with your bandwidth
