I recently signed up for an account at www.ath.cx and downloaded the accompanying program so I could host my website off my computer and not have to worry about my dynamic IP.

I'm supposed to be able to type in www.pauljr.cx into my browser, and it'll take me to my website, but for some reason, most likely due to me not setting something up correctly, that does not happen. However, I am able to visit my website after disconnecting, and reconnecting numerous times, by typing in http://193.100.100.2 At first, I didn't really care about having to type in that IP and not the URL I chose.

But I now care about this, for I cannot validate anything that is on that URL. In otherwords, if I type in http://193.100.100.2/index.php in the textfield for the W3C HTML validator, I get an error message after a while...

Probably because it times out trying to connect. I can not view that site when I try it. Are you on dial up, by any chance?

Yes, I am on dial-up. I know hosting off my computer with dial-up is pretty much a no-no, but I have done so before just as testing purposes, and people I've sent the link to haven't reported any problems with loading times... I don't expect to get very many vistors either.

Here's what comes up when I follow your URL link:

The domain name PAULJR.CX is NOT registered. You have reached this page because the Christmas Island Internet Top Level Domand has been configurd to "wildcard" all unregistered domains to this page. You may test this by entering a series of random letters followed by ".cx", you will (probably) be retuned to this page.

Yeah, that actually was a typo, the url should be www.pauljr.ath.cx

The IP is actually wrong as well, I'm not sure why I thought it was correct. That's actually the LAN IP my computer is connected to.

My brother's the resident geek 'round here, so... heheh, he knew. :D

Do I detect a faint whiff of that smell again? ;)

Lmao :D

Anyhoo, I believe I have configured something wrong, either in the program I downloaded, or in the account I have signed up for.

I'm not sure if anyone has any experience with the program, or the website.

Website: www.ath.cx
I can't rightly remember the URL to the download page of the program... but it's DynDNS Updater
