Joomla Help Needed

I am learning the product. Installed. Using the default template (Milky Way.) Reading Dummies. Today when I edited the poll module, the changed poll appeared, but did not work. 404 error. ALL the menu items no longer work. I did nothing but edit the poll.

A CLUE? the articles have url's ending in filename.html rather than the format of a data base article. Not my doing.

Found the problem myself, I choose an SEO option for the url's which broke the links. I didn't know that I had to first activate the apache mod-rewrite module by renaming the .htacess file. All is now well. Great forum, ask a question ... solve the problem yourself... heehee
