CSS Layout Design

I'm tring to create a website and use CSS to complete the output of what is in the picture I have attached. See the attachment. You'll notice it has three colums and a footer where links are toward the bottom of the page. There are two images toward the top. This is a screen shot that has been designed using tables. Now, I would like to use CSS. I'm not sure how to go about this for my personal webpage.

I would like to use <P> tags if it is possible. Can anybody help me with this?

Start off by going to Layout-o-matic (http://www.inknoise.com/experimental/layoutomatic.php) and getting some raw material to work with.
