Can anyone help me understand what's the real benefit in using twitter if you already use facebook status? What i mean is that if you already have a facebook account, you can post your status updates and all your friends could see what you're posting and reply just like twitter. So why use twitter??? I really can't get it...
Comments are greatly appreciated

From a marketing perspective:
Facebook = 500 million users
Twitter = 190 million users
Assume some overlap ... say, 98%. 2% of 190 mill is 3.8 million -- still a sizeable potential audience.
From a purely social standpoint, there's still some chance that some folk's friends are on twitter -- but not facebook. Additionally, twitter comes with low risk of feature-fluffing. If all you want is status updates without having to look at anything else, you tweet. When you want something more, you facebook.
A FB Status update is nearly but not equal a Tweet.
That's the rationale, anyway. In reality, I mostly hope twitter dies. It's stupid and pointless. And from a marketing perspective, I don't want another social app to update. And I don't want to use a "status updating tool" to keep all of my social accounts up to date. That's just spammy. I don't want to be a spammer. I want to be human.

i was mainly talking about the social experience. Today you can actually link both accounts so when you twitt it will post on your FB status too. i assume v-versa
I's very likely that all your followers on twitter have an account on FB too so my question, again, is why use twitter.
A few days ago i opened a twitter account and i was trying to figure out how to get followers! and for what? to do what i can already do to my FB friends. From the business point of view, as a company, you can still set-up a page and promote your news just like on twitter.
I also hope that twitter will go but just because it doesn't really make sense anymore
On every other phone you can install the FB application and update your status in real time.
I'm really trying to get it ...

If that's not the case for you, I guess there's just no reason for you to use Twitter. Stop searching for one!

Long before Facebook and Twitter, I was using Friendster. I believe Facebook, Twitter concepts are not really new. They just enhance and add on more features to the already existing concept in earlier sites like Friendster.
Anyone take a history tour to see who really is the first in social networking sites ?
PS I think my account still exist in Friendster :)
