Hi All...

Just wanted to bring to your attention a new forum that I created...I am not trying to compete with this forum, but just trying to make more places for people to help eachother out...

If your also interested...WebDevEX is still under a little bit of construction...but you can see the main idea of my site. Just mainly wanted to point out the forum though....

why not just refer others to these forums instead of having your own webdev forum, because this is already a well developed community. Plus I did not see anything that is not offered here offered on your forums.

Geez, do you have to shoot down everyone who offers something like this on here?

dats not shooting someone down, thats just offering an opinion. Why host something when something like this exists.

Ok.....first off, what's the difference with putting up a thread that says, "Check out this cool new link"as opposed to me showing people that my forum exists? It's not like I am trying to compete...I am trying to create a community of people that have not necessarily heard of the webdeveloper forum and also if some of the people here want to try out the other forumt they are glad. I am also going to be adding more categories to the forum that are not in this forum. If I shouldn't have put this thread here, I'm sorry, but I am just trying to give people the chance to help eachother out. Hey, like I said a month ago, I don't really mind if the pro's kick us around a bit...we need it to some degree...but, uh, hey, if anyone that sees this thread and wants to try out another place, then they are welcome to.

once again, if I went against any of the guidelines, then I am sincerely sorry.....

Mainly the fact that you aren't pimping your own site with the former, but rather pointing out a link that you feel would be of interest to web developers.

I am trying to create a community of people that have not necessarily heard of the webdeveloper forum

Most of the people following the above link will have heard of the webdeveloper fourms...

I am just trying to give people the chance to help eachother out.

That's what these forums are here for.

ColdSteel,

Can you offer a site with a lot less fighting than this one?

Topics wise, it does look like you copied the WebDeveloper forums.

Maybe you should have waited to advertise here until after you have a number of good posts and a lot of members.

Maybe you shouldn't have advertised it like you did but rather just include 'My WebPage' in your signature.

Also if I was WebDeveloper I might see the name you chose as almost a copy. And with the 'ex' at the end of the name. It may imply that your site is where 'ex WebDeveloper forum users' hang out.

pyro,

After looking at his site, you'd be justified in deleting his post. But please don't! Copying is a form of flatery.
Lot's of forums allow the members to list other forums their involved with.

Maybe it would be good to create a new forum here where people can 'show off' web sites they've designed!

First off...I am sorry for the way that I advertised here...I realize that it was out of place. When I said that the people hadn't heard of webdeveloper forums I meant that I am involved with striving to advertise in numerous other places than here. The categories DO appear to have been copied from here, but there are more that are going to be added that are not here and the rest of the ones are core languages and concepts. Maybe it's just the blunt-headedness of a teenager wanting to do something...but, ok, I see my fault and I apologize. Also, Pyro, I have gotten MUCH design ideas from looking at your site and code...

About the name, I just thought about it before I had even heard of webdeveloper forums. At first I was going to try something like affordable web solutions...but of course that's taken, then I thought up Affordable Site Solutions.... but it makes a not so good acrononym...hehe....and, as usual...Thanks everyone SOOO much for the advice and help...I don't know what I'd do without webdeveloper forum...(and the moderators for that matter :D)

Hey did ya all know I also run forum? That my company accually owns? Webdeveloper is owned and operated by Internet.com a.k.a Jupitermedia. SO out of respect for them I rarely even Mention SAF, and only mention sister forums like VirtualDr or Hardware Central by name.

You are a regular member here and I'm sure that was taken into consideration when PeOfEo and Pyro debated on deleting your post. A member with lesser posts would have their thread removed without thinking twice.

ColdSteel if you really want to see Pyro posting his problems on your site and here then by all means keep doing what you’re doing. I agree with that you should have held off on this post till your membership was a bit higher. Many of the regulars here will stop by but aren't going to stick around unless you get people to post. Work on the membership of people needing help. Once you get that you'll find the membership to fix the issues too!!!

Forums are a lot of work so many fail based on lack of membership. Be ready for at least a 6 month waiting period till something happens.

Thank you moderators for "putting me in line"...and I am not being fesechious. I am serious. I am young and naive, and sometimes stupid. I should have thought before I started this thread. I'll be waiting for that six month turnover...again, thanks for all of the advice......
