I have a video I've uploaded to my site as an FLV but it appears as a blank screen, then loads the entire video before playing. I'd like to have it appear with a placeholder as a YouTube video does that will only load when the user clicks play. Any ideas how to do this without a Flash editor?

The .flv video cannot play by itself of course, it needs some type of video player, usually a .swf video player file. So you'll have to get a player with controls. If you can't create your own, you could use something like JW Player to play the .flv video file:

after downloading the player, you create a <div> on your html page to hold the player. Then upload the .flv and all related player files to your server.
