I recently did a clean install of Windows 7. I copied everything from my old OS into an external hard drive and formated the hard drive (in the computer). Once Windows 7 was installed, I installed Chinese language packs and copied everything back into the computer.
At first, I noticed that about half of my Chinese songs's titles are messed up (like gibberish), that didn't really bother me, I simply changed them back because I could recognize the songs by ear.
Today, I noticed that some of my important Chinese files are also in gibberish. Is there any way that I can change them back? I really need those files.

I have no idea how to fix your particular issue. But i figured i'd give you some words of comfort in the fact that file are copied over in binary format (unless you used some app to do it). So all the original chinese characters are there, just not being interpreted correctly.
What file type are they? What app are you using to open them? Look for a character encoding setting to mess with.

It's saved as .txt
I tried opening it in notepad. Then I clicked Save As->Character Encoding and I tried all of the encodings, none of them work.

I copied the files using Window's Copy/Paste.

I got it working by changing my System Default to Chinese! But now, a lot of programs are displayed in Chinese. I'll try fixing this on my own.
