Occasionally during Startup I get a blue screen saying:

Fatal Exception Error Occured at 017F-BFF83BFC

Of course I then hit my Reset button and after the Blue Screen ScanDisk everything is okay.

I am curious what this error means and if it is a potential problem or just one of those things...sometimes it happens more frequently during hot weather.

It means you're booting an unstable operating system. (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

Failures that happen during bootup are usually device driver related. Like a piece of hardware wasn't initialized properly during the power-on-reset. It *might* indicate a hardware problem but most often it's a buggy device driver.

Yeah...could be my Wacom Intuos Tablet.

Sometimes when I try to use the tablet it won't respond for a while..sometimes I have to check its settings and restart the comp.

Of course I still have Win 98 SE..I would upgrade to 2000 but I just don't know how stable it is and I'd prefer to do a clean install rather than an upgrade...safer that way too I hear.
