So I was talked into teaching WordPress this Summer, though
I've never used it before (I AM a CMS Vet though with Cake,
Magento, Drupal etc) so am asking the forum what would be
a good lesson plan to start with, what I had so far is:

1. Install and configure a Content Management system
2. Create a blog
3. Save, edit, and moderate a blog
4. Add custom content
5. Theming (templates)

Now, I'm not sure if this is correct, or the right place to
start. I am basing this of off other CMS' so I'm not
sure if this is how I should teach it. This class will be
broken into two 2.5hr lessons a week, for five weeks. I have
already decided on a straight pass/fail scale but maybe want
to have a little quiz or such at the end of the week just to
make sure students are retaining.

Any help or direction would be much MUCH appreciated. I have a
few months to learn this myself, but would like to use my own
lesson plan on myself to make sure it would work for others,
hence the reach out. Thanks Guys and Gals! Glad to be part of
the community finally.

The best thing to do would be to google ‘WordPress Course’ or ‘WordPress Training’ then view courses that are currently on offer by training companies, see what they’re covering and in what order and then build your own course using these other courses as a guide. I’ve created numerous training courses doing this, the only thing to be aware of is whether the courses you find are up to date, most are but I did build a JavaScript course a while back and the majority of courses I encountered were very out of date, but it still gave me ideas on structure. Another thing you can do is check youtube for any videos covering WordPress training and see how they approach teaching it.
