Hello,

I'm a NOVICE who is developing a membership site. I want to post videos to my members area. I'd like to post real videos (I have a Kodak Zi8), as well as "videos" of my computer screen, and I'd like to have sound too.

I don't have any software to do this. And I don't have much $$$.

Any recommendations on what I should use?

Thanks so much for your help,
Greg

There is a free gpl project called recordmydesktop which records the screen, but I don't know if there is a windows version(although I am sure there will be other free programs that do the same stuff). It is called screencast btw, makes searches easier.

As for editing video there are a good number of free options with a wide range of quality, but I'd just stick to whatever is installed, imovie for mac and wmm for windows. Again though, I use lives, but I know that doesn't have a windows version.

I've done many screen captures with older version of Windows Media Live Encoder (free). It's being replaced by MS Expressions Encoder (free and paid version)... but you could check them both out

or check out ManyCam:
