Ways to Advertise My Site

I started a site with a friend, it's a sport blogging site. We're looking to get bigger (obviously), but we aren't sure of ways we can advertise out of "word of mouth." Suggestions?

Free or paid?

Look out for google adword coupons. You can get $75 worth of free adwords.

Also consider linking deals with other popular blogs. Using stumble, reddit, etc. Make sure you have your site ready before using these things ... Stumble for instance can get you millions of visitors, but you need to get them to come back ...

You can add the stumbleupon toolbar as an addon to firefox and submit your page yourself ... Same with reddit and everything ...

Forums are a great way to increase traffic, just but the link to the domain in signature as long as the forum you use allows you to do this. You can also, get cheap stuff from Vista Print for non internet marketing. I got 500 business cards for 10 bucks. They send you ads for free stuff all the time once you order. You can also use social media like Facebook to help market your site. I also would highly recommend Google Analytics to help you identify trends in your website traffic which can also help you market your site.
