Hi all,

I need to buy a font and was wondering what the general practice is in terms of the licenses for pay fonts? I glanced through a license for the font and it appears that the line of demarcation is when you basically are trying to redistribute the font in some electronic form, you are violating the license.

My needs are for web graphics (logo) and I'd like to make some shirts and other tangible items which include the logo as well.

Does anyone have experience with this and can shed any light on it for me?

Thanks,
cf

Hi CF,

I work for a company that specialise in logo embroidery / printing and they often have to re-design people's logos. We have never had to gain prior permission before using fonts. 'distribution' defines selling the font to others for profit, rather than a design that has been created with the font included - You are not selling the font, you are selling the design. If, however, you sold a design including every character of the font then that would be a violation.

Hope that helps you out =)

Thanks for the reply, BB! Very helpful. I'm a little paranoid about things like this and it's good to get some feedback from someone that's crossed this bridge before.

Thanks again,
