Could you please give me step to step detail on how to create a custom 404 page. My web directory doesn't have an .htaccess file. So could you please start from there on.
Also, i have a question, you know sites like angelfire, and neopets, they have a 404 page that keeps on changing. I think they have about 10 404 pages and it selects the page randomly. How is that done. You can try the link
try this (http://www.neopets.com/gfjkhfgjsgkfdhjeg.html)

It depends on which server you are using............. I'm using abyss, which allows you to set a different error page to the default, using it's control panel. Then you can use PHP to pick a random page each time.

If you're hosting your page on another site, I'm not sure how to change it. I only know how to do it when using localhost on your own PC. Sorry!

If you are lucky enought to be on Apache, it is easy enough to do with .htaccess. But, I do believe that europe.webmatrixhosting.net is running a Microsoft server. Not sure how to configure anything on that... Have you tried google?

What should i exactly look for. by the way, i tried the .htaccess stuff, and it didn't work. i have to make it on a text file, right? Can you give me the .htaccess file name with the whole extension. Like the full name.

thanx

.htaccess only works on Apache servers.

How about custom 404 page on windows server (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=custom+404+page+on+windows+server&btnG=Google+Search).

I believe they must, as they have ASP support.
