How to recompile PHP

Hi guys,

We're running Informix 7.3 with Unix 11.11 OS on a HP-UX box. We have Apache 2.0.43 and PHP 4.2.3 and Informix Client SDK with ESQL/C. The Apache and PHP came bundled with our software. I now want to enable Informix support in PHP but can't figure out (believe it or not, I'm new to PHP) how to recompile the PHP module. I know that I have to add the "--with-informix=$INFORMIXDIR' to the compile script, but I can't seem to find the "configure" file. Can anyone help? Thanks much!

Let me ask a different question(s)...

Is there a way to regenerate the "configure" file if it does not exist? OR...can I just midify the php.ini file to allow for Informix interaction?

Since I know nothing about compiling PHP on *nix (unfortunatly), you might want to try the install (http://www.phpbuilder.com/board/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=7) section of PHPBuilder. Then again, someone else who browses these forums may know how to do it...
