which registrar to choose?

Hi

Im having trouble choosing a registrar.
To begin with i only need a VPS to start my project, but i want to be able
to expand to a dedicated server later when traffic is growing without much hassle.

Things of importance:

* quality and fast service
* price
* phpmyadmin
* cpanel

Any suggestions?

There's a difference between a registrar and a host.

A registrar register's your domain name, a host is just as it sounds, it hosts your website on a server.

GoDaddy is a very reliable, inexpensive registrar if you're looking for just a registrar, but as a host I've heard they leave things to be desired (I have a few domains with them, but no hosted sites).

I can't get over the hosting service provided by ICDSoft (they'll act as a registrar too, if you want). The time tech support responds to your questions is measured in minutes, not hours. The custom admin panel (while it is not cPanel) is easier to use than cPanel and has way better features in terms of backup/restores, mail management, database management, etc).

Strongly urge you to give ICDSoft.com a try, you're website is up 99.999% of the time and it's quite inexpensive $6USD a month (or if you want your site hosted in Europe it's 6 euros a month.)

I've got about 30 sites hosted with them, couldn't ask for any better service over the past 4-5 years.

Registrar = Whoever is the cheapest. I prefer to use godaddy.com for .com and 123reg.co.uk for .co.uk domains.

I would advise, not having your hosting with your registrar. Usually pricey and a bit of a pain in the neck.


There are plenty of free hosts that allow scripting, free of ads and good bandwith options. To upgrade and get unlimited mail servers and other goodies, only costs a couple of dollars a month.

Free webhost I use has excellent bandwith, generous transfer rates and storage, quick ping response, free of ads, can use php, what more do you need on a free plan? Only costs something like $4 a month on the paid. Ive never needed to pay though as it offers me all I need.
