what kind of processor do you use ?
facebook uses heaving scripting that would make an old processor a bit slow,
also why not use firefox / chrome ?

If you install programs made by users on facebook, your opening your computer up to all manner of issues as facebook can be used to compromise an endpoint.
So my advise is to uninstall all the bells and whistles and start again one program at a time until you hit a problem and then you know that the last program you installed is suspect and should be reported to the FB tech help crew and also spread the info amongst your friends.
Its not the first time FB has been used to launch a virus and I doubt it will be the last.
If you have a firewall in operation, my advise is to examine the activity logs to see the time that you were on face book and see how many connections were flooding your computer.
High CPU usage is often indicative of a virus running or your firewall is having a hard time, not from a slow PC but because your internet is often being flooded with utter crap because your machine is broadcasting that it has a virus on it.
So get your machine scanned with a reputable AV and grab a suite of tools to clear any malwares.
Programs like Adaware, SpyBot S&D, spywareblaster, Glary Utilities and AV programs like AVG or Zonealarm, about the only to AV & Firewall programs that I rate having used Sophos (cant catch a bloody cold let alone a virus, my work uses this and despite auto update, they have had 3 major security breaches), McAffee (Rather have a hole drilled in my head), Kaspersky (utter rubbish, my ex-uses this and has had several viruses)
I would advise caution with any "Malware" removal tool, be careful to google complaints and issues and use key words that relate to scams viruses and trojans when looking for information because you will find that allot of "Malware" removal tools are viruses themselves and do squat and have no uninstaller and one my friend installed was demanding he call a premium rate number with his credit card details to unlock his computer!
