ModGuy,

You really REALLY need to try to learn HTML. Then you might be able to FIX the problems you have, instead of looking for workarounds all the time.

ok well see this is my main problem right here....

ok after i make my website in photoshop and slice it the HTMl code is so full of crap, i just need to refine and make it web fit. like there will be so many images in the frames and wow it is horrible. i just wnat to refine it to work on the web

i do know alot of html but i have only made 1 HTML layout and that was with help from a friend so i dont know much abotu web layouts and i think i am using photoshop and i think it is not the right one for layouts but u know i dont have much money to buy expensive things

You know a lot of html but have only made one layout? Saying you know html should go beyon the hypertext markup language its self and into can you make accessable sites, can you make valid sites, can you use other stuff like css (because without css your site can't be valid, tables are not for html 4.01, css must be used with tables or all css.)

Also, I agree with Aronya1, and PeOfEo. And PS isn't made for creating layouts, it's a graphics program.

PeOfEo

I use psp... just because I have it and it serves my needs. That is probably why I suck at graphics... but I like it. psp7 actually lol the old one (I think 8 is out, but not sure). I have used photoshop and I found psp to be a little bit faster to use though a bit less powerful.

spufi

As others have said, PS is not made to make layouts. Layouts made in PS WILL be filled with tables and have numerous spacer gifs. If you want to use PS to make a mock image of what you want your site to look like, then go for it. However, use HTML/CSS for the actual layout and then apply the images where needed, background, or not. If you create a mock image of what you want your site to look like and post it, we can take a look at what needs to be done to convert it over to an actual site.

This is the very reason to do it by hand. You have to learn to crawl before you can walk. I know it's a pain & maybe boring to hand code, but in the long run it's the shortcut to being able to make good websites.i dont have much money to buy expensive things Notepad is free. So are a bizillion tutorials online. So is the help you can get right here.

Do what we're suggesting & you'll be glad you did. Keep doing what you have been doing & you'll spend the rest of your life asking us for help.

I use dreamweaver myself. html kit is free. Do a google on it because I do not know where to get it. I have just heard the others around here talking about it. It apparently has syntax highlighted text and line numbers which are very helpful.

I don't much like it, I prefer Homesite, but that costs money. I think I heard someplace it was like 80 bucks, but I'm too lazy to check that out. :D

But I would not recomend using any of these tools for their code generation, because they'll spit out nasty, non-valid code.

That's about as basic of a layout as you can get. It looks a lot like the one I was playing around with and I almost made it a template on my site. I think the version I have up is close to being done. Here's the link for what I have...

And HTML Goodies is a horrid place to learn about web design from and I recommend people to not go there for info. I actually visit w3schools to look up and double check stuff all the time.

Well, around 6 months or so (can't remember exactly), I got linkage to HTML Goodies from this guy I know, when I asked him if he knew of any good books on HTMl -- I wanted to learn how to build websites. Now, HTML Goodies is, like, out-dated by now, but that was the best place I found back then. I didn't much like W3Schools at all, and I rarely, if ever, went there. I hardly go there now, because I don't like the place. I don't got to HTMLGoodies anymore, but I used to before; a lot. I see nothing wrong with HTMLGoodies except for the fact that it's out-dated.

I would say it's brutally outdated at this point, and some of their own markup for their pages is so invalid it would be laughable if it wasn't so sad.

Yes, they are extremely out-dated now, and yes, the markup of their own pages can be horribly non-valid, but like I said, it was the best place I found when I started. I would still go there if the guy up-dated the site, but I guess it's just too much work...

If you wish to carry on a conversation with me, do so via PM or TC, this is spamming.
I have no wish to talk with anyone, that's why I left.

Quit looking for programs now, we have told you about html kit, it is all you need. Now learn the language. html goodies sucks btw. They might be good to sort of help you understand how html works on day1 but it teaches you the wrong stuff. It is very outdated. They are still using <font> tags over there.

There's a link for the 30-day trial version on there, and the best toturial is playing around with code yourself.

No, it is not. They have more quirks. Ie specific codes, they teach table based layouts, and they basically step on accessability.

exactly. So get to work! I say you make the layout in html and css first, then design the images to pull it all togther, or atleast do not make one big image, do not realy on images that much.

As far as sites for tutorials, I used to use echoecho (http://www.echoecho.com). They were pretty good for the basics. I won't vouch for them today, because I haven't been there in awhile, but their tuts were pretty well laid out (IMHO).
