Why is the default cut off range for the Perl/Python/Ruby forum "Last Month" and not from the "Beginning"? It was kind of scary for me for a few minutes upon only seeing 3 posts in the forum. I know I've posted several times into the Perl forum, when it was actually called that, and I was like oh no, the forum admins didn't delete all our threads did they? Knowing you guys wouldn't dare do such a thing, for reasons you guys added an edit limit so people can't delete their posts when a thread is resolved, I looked around for a possible way to show older posts. It took me a good five minutes or so to spot the option. My question: can the default display for this particular forum be changed to "Beginning"? Thanks!
p.s. while you guys are at it, if you visit "http://www.webdeveloper.com/" and look at the vertical navigation bar on the left side, the link to the "Perl/Python/Ruby" forum still reads "Perl" and needs to be updated to include Ruby and Python.

The "default cut off" are controled by you in your UserCP in the section called Edit Options.
Its towards the bottom:
Default Thread Age Cut Off
You may specify a time period from which to display threads. Threads older than the age you specify will not be shown.

You can also set it to view all.

I'm well aware when logged in the forums remember my user account settings. If I'm not logged in, such as viewing the forums from another location, the forum uses the forums' default setting for this particular forum. Try logging out and viewing http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=4 and you'll see as a guest that it cuts off after a month. Sure I can do as WolfShade suggested and just hit Show threads from the beginning every time but this is the reason I posted this as a suggestion for the forums. Seeing this particular forum hardly gets any posts, it would be nice to have it use a default setting to show all the threads so we can browse the threads easier. This is a suggestion to help others mostly since I'm pretty sure many have looked at this forum before signing up and pretty much left webdeveloper.com in search of another forum on the internet since they saw there were no posts whatsoever in this forum and they wouldn't know that the threads were being cut off after a month and would need to show all threads to see all 89 pages worth. I'm saying that the forum's current default settings don't make any sense to me for this particular forum for the reasons already stated and although its a very very small issue, I was wondering if you guys would consider using the Admin CP and changing its default display. If yes, cool, if not, too bad. In either case, when signed in the forums remember my user settings which display this forum how I what and I can deal with it but I'm just pointing out the logic to you guys as feedback, since you can very easily adjust this via the Admin CP in a matter of moments, if you care for this sort of thing -- as the logic involved here seems deficient. I am NOT looking for a workaround -- I already have one. This is a suggestion to hopefully improve the quality of users' experiences on the forums.
p.s. Hi Steve, not sure we've met before (on these forums at least unless you have posted under a different name in the past). I'm sure you'll pick up on my personality around the forums in good time. And congrats on the recent promotion. It's a shame LeeU (http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/member.php?u=18978) and JPnyc (http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/member.php?u=19282) were demoted... whenever that happened... I was away for a few months. They were awesome forum admins in my opinion. This post is intended to clarify my previous suggestion since it is meant as a suggestion for the forums and not as a problem I am having that I need to solve for my sake. It's a small matter, and for that reason all the easier to implement since I think the suggestion would have a positive impact on the forums. While you're in the Admin CP working on the Perl/Python/Ruby forum, you might want to fix the 2nd thing I pointed out in my first post regarding the vertical navigation bar when viewing http://www.webdeveloper.com/ unless you need FTP access to fix that.
