Domain Name Privacy

Hi,

I was just wondering, is it possible to hide your identity when starting a website/registering a domain? Is there some sort of option that you can select that will protect your personal details? If so, is this offered on all domain sites like GoDaddy?

If this is the case, is there any way to by pass the blanket? I just don't like the idea of people being able to see that I own the site.

What suggestions do people have to keep your personal details private when starting a website?
