When people do FAQ they norm have a list of questions then you click one and it goes to a section on that page with the answer.

howdo you do that. i know it is somthing like #link but i can't remember

It's called a named anchor, and yes, it uses a hash sign like you mentioned. Check this out: http://www.faqs.org/docs/htmltut/linking/_A_NAME.html
