I cannot get a script for a counter to run. And I cannot find the problem.

The error log shows "Premature end of script headers: /home/virtual/site200/fst/var/www/cgi-bin/count.cgi" In reading a previous posting, the suggestion was incorrect paths or incorrect permissions. All paths have been verified.

Permissions:
file count.cgi - 755
directory count - 777
directory cgi-bin - 775

Script:

#!/usr/bin/perl
$minLen = 7;

#This is absolute path of the directory where the counter files are stored. Must be global-writeable.
$counterdir = "/var/www/cgi-bin/count/";

$lockWait = 5;

Any suggestions before I go totally crazy?

Are you sure all those '#' symbols in 'sub writeBitmap', 'sub initialize', and 'sub loadbitmaps' are supposed to be there?

I've not seen things like this before!
$#bytes + 1
