I created a few basic websites 2 years ago, and am about to embark on another now. BOY, how things have changed! There are so many choices, my mind is boggled just getting started. I need to register a domain for starters. Does anyone have any recommendations? I did a Google search and there's so many different offers with different variables, that I don't really know what to choose. What should I look for? What should I look OUT for? (BTW, this is for a potential business website).
Thanks in advance,

There's plenty of information on domains here:

I think it's best for most small business websites to get a small host you know and can rely on, rather than a faceless company. I usually use Boztec Limited (http://www.boztec.com/), and can recommend them.

make sure you purchase the domain name from the same company who is going to host your site. Companies charge a fortune for domain name transfers

There is generally no charge to move a domain name from one server to another. At least from a company that is worth dealing with.
I deal with 2 registar's
1. http://www.domainmonger.com
2. http://www.godaddy.com
Both do offer hosting however better rates can be found either locally or over the internet.
When you buy a domain name from a Hosting service your gernerally paying much more than you need to for a domain name as well.
As far as which one to deal with... Often I have problems with Godaddy with there website being slow and database errors when doing a WhoIs search. From what I was reading their in the process of getting that fixed. However in the past I found the flexablity of managing multiple domains with DomainMonger very easy.

Before you get really setup to launch your site you might also find it convenient to use any of the many free registration services.
One that doesn't even add advertising is
