Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : I have a question.
And it is: What exactly is this forum for? And, What is and is not allowed?
Because I was going to post... "It's funny how most people think that people who know stuff about computers can hack into their system, when the people who think that people can hack into their computer are not vulnerable to it, because the 'hacker' doesn't even know their IP!"
Is it okay to advertise your site in a way? Is there a forum for simple discussion that may veer away from computers (like what I was going to post)?

I think you mean what you just did post intentionally. What a gimmick.

hi, lol totally agree, to non-technical people i usually put it this way:
"think of a Hackers as being the same as a burglar. A burglar can't burgle you house if he doesn't know your address. Say he does know your address that doesn't mean that he can get it to your house. Same with hackers if the don't know your IP then they can't hack you, and even if they did know your IP address still doesn't mean there going to get in"

i wouldnt agree totally with that. On the burglar front, a burglar can very easily get into houses, whether he knows the address or not - he just goes up to a window, tries it, and if it opens then he goes in. He needs no knolwedge of geography, area codes, street names at all.
Similarly with hackers - most hackers will run software that searches the internet for people who have open ports on their internet connections - akin to leaving your window open at home. If they find one, then they may try to get in and see what they can do.
It is true to say that it's harder for a hacker to come "specifically after you" - but that's not to say that you wont get hacked if you're on an unprotected connection. If you leave your windows open, then it's quite likely that someone uninvited will come on in...
I agree with you both: Hackers cannot hack without the IP. But, they can find those on the internet with little to no protection, and hack into their computer. However, they cannot attack a certain person that they want to, without knowing that exact person's IP.
I am an experinced Web Developer: I know what I'm talking about, guys. I just wanted to know exactly what this forum is for. I know all about IPs and stuff. But what I was saying is that when I talk to people at places like, GameTalk.com, and I tell them I am a programmer, my response is always, "WHAT!??!! YOU BETTER NOT HACK INTO MY COMPUTER!!" And stuff like that. And I cannot find their IP directly through GameTalk.com (unless I hack the server, which I do not want to do) and it cracks me up!! It's just hilarious to see these people get freaked out over nothing at all! It just makes me laugh so hard!!!
*BUMP*
Shouldn't there be a VBScript forum?
