My W2000 network computer at work won't view any TIF image that any given website might use. They all come up as a box with a little red x inside.
When I visit these websites on my home computer (XP), all of the web graphics view just fine.
Is that a network thing or does my IE need updating at work?

Are you sure you mean *.tif?
Because TIF files are not meant to be viewed in web browsers.

Is that right? I didn't know...
So as a web developer, I should never use a TIF file as a web graphic?

TIFs are huge in comparison to, say, a JPG. I just opened a random JPG file, then saved it as a TIF. It went from 41k to over 600k.
Check the properties of the images from your home machine. I doubt they're TIFs.

save as either jpg, gif, or png when it comes to web graphics.
